Temporary Accommodation in Dubai
Hi everyone,
I hope you guys can help me. I have secured a 12 month contract with an all in salary, which means I will have to look for my own accommodation and not employer provided. I need advise on whether to stay in a hotel or get a service apartment for a short term until I secure a more permanent accommodation.
I look at hotels near work (Media City) they are more expensive than service apartments (in Marina and JLT). I have been looking at short term lets on Dubizzle, the only problem is they want deposit to book the accommodation and I am a bit wary parting with money without seeing the person I am dealing with; in fact Dubizzle advises against parting with money remotely, they recommend face to face transactions. If I book hotel via booking.com, I have the option of paying at check out and no deposit but the prices double what I would have paid for a short term service apartment let.
I am due to arrive next week Friday and I am worried I won't have anywhere to stay. I also do not know how long it would take to secure a semi-permanent accommodation. Staying in hotels means eating out every day which I am not keen on, I would rather cook my own food so as not to gain the dreaded "Dubai Stone" and would also like to save money.
Please help!
