Ms. Lauryn Hill will be supported by British singer-songwriter Bruno Major
Hip-hop fans who grew up in the 80s and 90s know of the iconic Ms. Lauryn Hill, whose debut album and following tracks defined a new direction in R&B. Hill's headline performance at the annual Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival on February 26th, 2020 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre promises to be a night of full indulgent hip-hop nostalgia and more.
The legendary rhythm and blues, pop, soul, and funk songstress returned to the music scene last year with her latest, "Guarding the Gates" and "Coming Home" - five years after she released the political track "Black Rage" and over 20 years after making history with her Grammy sweep with "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill".
Hill spent the last few years touring steadily around the world, made occasional guest appearances in tracks, and even celebrated the 20th anniversary of her award-winning debut solo album in 2018.
Though Hill took a semi-step back from the public eye, the former Fugees member's mark on rap music never left.
Over twenty years later, the music industry is still feeling the after-effects of Hill's groundbreaking "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" album, with many R&B artists today taking inspiration from her.
Among them are popular Canadian rapper Drake who sampled her hit classics "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and "Ex Factor" for his song "Nice For What", as well as American rapper Kanye West who featured parts of "Mystery of Iniquity" in his track "All Falls Down".
