In Pictures: Ford Driving Skills For Life!

Ford’s Driving Skills For Life launched in 2003 as a way for new drivers to brush up on their road skills and since then it has been a success on five continents. Ahead of US Mother’s Day in May, Ford tailored the course to raise awareness of the unique driving conditions mothers face on their daily drives.

From a car full of chaotic kids to the demands of a busy schedule, the event armed 24 mothers will the skills they need to rule the road.

ExpatWoman held a competition, in which the prize was a place at the fantastic Ford Driving Skills for Life event, held at the Dubai Autodrome. 26 lucky ladies won, and attended on April 27th, 2015... We met at the Welcome Centre with refreshments, and the ladies were split into two groups, yellow and green. Ford instructor, James introduced the team for the day and briefed the ladies of what was going to happen during the event, then did a short safety demonstration of seating and using seat belt.

The green team stayed in the Welcome Centre and James talked to them about road safety, do’s and don’ts, child safety, park assist demonstration and "My Ford Touch" all of which was very informative and interesting!

Meanwhile, the yellow team were divided into three groups, and performed a distraction test, and experienced impaired vision with the crazy goggles. The best bit? They got to see the star of the show... The “NEW” 2015 Mustang! The ladies had their laps timed while conquering the speed and the driving ability throughout the cones.

Congratulations to Zoe who did her lap in amazing 34 seconds. Her prize? Zoe gets to enjoy the Mustang for a week... Well done!

The morning ended with a lovely lunch which the ladies all thoroughly enjoyed - what a great event!

"I really enjoyed the day at the Autodrome yesterday. Driving the Mustang and the Expedition was such good fun although I didn't get to drive the Ecosport car. It would have been nice to have a longer drive in the Mustang (and the lunch was lovely too). The instructors were all really good and helpful.
