Hi,
I'm 29 weeks pregnant and have just moved from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. I was planning to give birth at City Hospital and my Ob/Gyn is in Dubai. I am worried about the 90min drive to Dubai when in labour and wanted a back-up plan in Abu Dhabi. I have heard that Corniche has the best facilities but not sure if my ADNIC insurance will cover there. I think I can use Al Noor but would like some feedback from anyone who has delivered there? Do I need to register at both hospitals? If so could you advise the proceedure?
Many Thanks Nic

highly recommend having a Doula too. Had one in Dubai when I delivered my second baby and it was the best decision I made.

I've seen Dr Baschar for my entire pregnancy but have many friends who have also seen Dr Marwan. You'd be in good hands with either of these Drs! Trying to remember back but I believe my first appoinment was around 7-8 weeks to confirm the pregnancy. I might have had an ultrasound then as well but can't remember for certain. If I didn't then I definitely had one at the next appointment 2 weeks later.

I have been a doula in the City Hospital in Dubai, New Al Noor and Corniche. I fould City Hospital to be fabulous, Al Noor to be good with lovely staff but then it does all depend on the specialist you have. They do have a NICU at Al Noor and I have met the Head of NICU who I thought was both pro active and supportive. I have found the Corniche to be very medacalised when it came to the birth with the mother having little to no say in the whole birth. On the flip side the Corniche have a very good NICU where your baby is in safe hands. I guess it all depends if you have a good pregnancy with no complications ( at which I would go to City Hospital or New Al Noor) or if you have had a difficult pregnancy with complications ( at which I would go to The Corniche). Your birth experience will very much depend of your specialist and the relationship you have with them. Hope that helps.

I'm 37 weeks at have been doing my appoints at the New Al Noor on Airport Rd. I'll be delivering there as well. If you have any specific questions regarding Drs or the hospital itself don't hesitate to ask.

ok i would go for the corniche, its a government maternity and very good has all the facilties. next choice would then be al noor which is private but you have in town khalifa st or airport road further out, then there is mafraq or rahba hospital which are government thats who i would use. u need to register just in case.
