Recently received a traffic fine in Dubai? Here's some good news for you. Now, Dubai Police have teamed up with Dubai Islamic Bank to allow motorists in Dubai to pay theirtraffic fines in instalments, according to a new agreement announced on Monday.
Dubai drivers who hold credit cards from Dubai Islamic Bank and who have fines exceeding AED 500 can now settle their traffic fines over a time period of 6, 9, or 12 months instalment courses, interest-free.
The Deputy Director of Income Department in Dubai Police, Brigadier Hameed Salem Al Suwaidi signed the agreement with the Head of Individuals Banking Services in Dubai Islamic Bank, Sanjai Malhotra. He explained that, "the agreement aims to open new channels of payment for motorists in easy instalment plan."
Brig Al Suwaidi added: ‘It is an innovation service provided by Dubai Police to achieve our strategic goal of providing happiness to the society through Dubai Police services."

A similar initiative was declared last year by Dubai Police with Emirates Islamic Bank, which also allowed motorists in the emirate to settle their Dubai traffic fines in interest-free instalments.
Earlier that year, Dubai Police also signed similar agreements with Commercial International Bank, and First Gulf Bank. In addition, drivers who bank with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank were able to pay fines in instalments from 2016. Whilst Emirates NBD offered the traffic fine instalments in 2014.
Of course - while these instalment options help drivers to cover payments of their fines, drivers in Dubai and the UAE must always drive safely and abide by the rules of the roads to avoid excessive fines and causing potential accidents.
