Similar experience with me - had to be cited by a lawyer (luckily I worked in a law firm), I then had to take it to an office of the Dept of Foreign Affairs and when I got it back, had to send it to the UAE embassy in Canberra. Took about two weeks.
Why not check in with the Aussie embassy in Abu Dhabi or consulate in Dubai to confirm the process? You might be able to undertake part of the process here, for example, there are a number of Aussie practising lawyers based in Dubai who might be able to attest the documents for you before you send them off to DFAT???
Mine had to go to the university of origin first to be stamped, then to the Dept of foreign affairs in Brisbane, then to the UAE embassy in Canberra. If someone at home can help it is much easier. I did not have to get any solicitors involved.
You'll need the original uni certificates and then bring them to a solicitor (call around, only some can do the attesting). Next, you will need to send them to the Dept of Foreign Affairs in Canberra and they will be sent back to you. Ensure that you get the express post as it will be easier to trace. Give yourself at least 3 weeks from beginning to end, sometimes there is a backlog. We did it before arriving and it has saved us an enormous amount of footwork. The total cost should be around $AUD400 (solicitors etc)
No not in Dubai, they need to be done in Aus. I wonder if someone else knows the procedure, I think I have it on file somewhere. I will look later if noone else helps.
Hi ladies,
my hubby and I are from Australia.
He has just been offered a job, and his academic certificates need to be attested.
Can they be attested here in Dubai?
Can anyone tell me the process?
Thanks in advance!
