Advice on clothing

Hi Ladies,

I will be making an exciting move to Dubai early October, I was wondering if anyone could recommend the type of clothing to take with me? I have read different things how you should cover your shoulders and knees etc but I will be working in an office too.. any advice will be appreaciated!

I am 23 and single - would love to meet new friends also!

Hi there, I'm from USA but have lived in Dubai for quite long know. When I was first moving here I was also pretty concerned by the fact that what clothing will I have to wear in a place where 113 °F is the normal temperature. But to be very honest, Dubai was nothing like I thought it would be. As Rhea said, If you stay indoors there are air conditioners everywhere and you start feeling cold and need some cover up so its best to keep some wraps or shawls with you. For outdoors, you can buy summer dresses and clothing which is of light fabric but is not revealing and covers your body. My clothing issue has been solved by an online store. Hi artasmiltina! I hope you enjoy Dubai when you get here. I am 24 so if you are looking to meet some friends out here let me know! Most places are pretty relaxed clothing wise but be sensible no hotpants, crop tops etc in the malls but normal tshirts, summer dresses are fine. It's pretty cold in the malls even in summer due to AC so I would say pack your jeans and not just summer clothes. I work in an office and would say it is like back home (I'm from Scotland), so the usual trousers and a blouse, office dresses etc are all acceptable! If you are going to government buildings you need to be bit more covers but loose trousers and a cardigan will do as it really isn't as bad as people think! I would also suggest bringing some light wraps that you can put over your shoulders ... mainly as the AC is cold so its easier than lugging a jacket or cardigan if you are out and about!
