Hi, friends of mine and their parents just booked an appartment there for their visit soon but as one of them is in a wheelchair they got worried that the tripadvisor website says it's NOT suitable for wheelchair users...
I am a bit surprised because I thought all the JBR buildings are OK for wheelchair access i.e. lifts at the bottom and inside buildings... Anybody any more info on this ASAP please? Would be appreciated!!!

just to add, the standard bathroom set-up is for a shower above a bath. There aren't any roll-in showers.

I can't imagine Amwaj 4 to be anything apart from just like all the others. They're all built on a plinth above Plaza level which takes about 5 steps to access... and there are often one or 2 ramp options, although they may be handily (not) placed on the other side of the building to the entrance door or in another nook that no one would find unless they were looking really hard. There are lifts inside the buildings that go all the way up from ground (car park). Sometimes these lifts have a small step into the lift lobby (another golfclap to the "designers"), but often the cleaners/ workers have cobbled together a makeshift ramp. Once inside the building, it's all fine. All the apartments are on one floor (unless you've booked a duplex, which wouldn't have an internal lift) and the doors are wide enough for a wheelchair. The bathrooms and toilets, however, might be a bit tight. If the wheelchair user can be assisted to use the toilet, then it should be fine. Obviously, I haven't seen the actual apartment, but based on all the other JBR apartments I've been to/ lived in... They've also got all the outside lifts working (some complete with step into them) down to The Walk. Once on The Walk, there are drop-cubs and it's pretty accessible. Busses and Metro are all wheel-chair friendly. edited by Hello.Kitty on 11/01/2011
