Applying for Australian Citizenship Certificate and Passport for Newborn in Dubai
I'm due to give birth any day now in Dubai and then we are hoping to travel home to Australia on the 23rd of December with the baby.
My husband is an Australian Citizen and I'm an Australian PR. According to the Australian consulate and all the official advice on various government websites, to get Baby her Aus passport, we first need to obtain her Citizenship Certificate, which takes between 59 days to 4 months (!!!!) then apply for her passport, which will take 3 weeks, and then her UAE visa which can take another week.
Obviously this timeline means we'll miss spending Christmas, and my entire maternity leave for that matter, at home!
However, I know that in reality, these timelines can often be speeded up and I was wondering if there are any Aussie families who went through the process with their newborns here, and how long did it take? Was there anything that could be done to speed up the process???
