I have just had a terrible experience with a sri Lankan maid: she came 3days ago for a test and all my family just loved her, she seemed absolutely perfect, good cook, great with the baby, perfect cleaning and so on. I thought she was THE pearl.

We agreed that she would start yesterday working for us, she arrived at 3pm. She was nice, smiling, talking about her family, her previous employer ...
This morning, when we woke up, she was gone with all our money.... During the night, she stole what she could and just left by the service door. No one heard anything.

We were shocked and talked to our friends; one of them send us this link: http://www.indusladies.com/forums/personal-services-in-dubai/52593-bewar...

We immediatly recognised her picture. Everything she told us was lies.

Beware of that lady please, especially if you have babies.

She used to target indian families but now apparently she changed and is targeting westerners.

Ive just checked with the PRO in my office and you [b'>CAN NOT [/b'>hire anyone on a tourist visa. Their visa needs to be under process or you need a pre approval before somone on a tourist visa is allowed to set foot in the work place. This means that you have applied for their visa and the wheels are in motion. I was also told this

Actually, it IS the point. Yes, she's been doing it for years, and yes, she looks lovely and trustworthy on the photo. But I would never hire someone without checking references and paperwork. And I would certainly not let a complete stranger spend the night in my house without "jumping on her passport", if only to check her story about the tourist visa! Really sorry OP that this happened, but AnonDubai is right. edited by Oopsiedaisy on 05/12/2013

Well that's not the point at all! She told me she was on a tourist visa, which is absolutely legal, I just had to change it to an employment visa. I did not jump on her passport to check what she said the very minute she arrived, that is my mistake. This woman has been doing that since 2008, she is smart and she looks really nice and profesionnal, so please pass it on to avoid her to continue doing that.

She sounds horrible! If people stopped hiring illegals, this woman would not be able to keep on doing this...
