Can they rent a car here in Dubai and take it across the border to Oman and back? How much is it, say for a Toyota Yaris. And which rental place offers this? They have intl. driving licenses. Thanks in advance

Yes, but only certain companies will allow it for 4x4s (sorry don't know what a Yaris is). I think most will allow with sedans. If you rent a car in Oman, there are no unlimited mileage packages. So if they plan on driving a lot, then it's much cheaper to rent in Dubai and drive than to rent in Oman. I think it was 200 km/day and if you went over, it was ridiculously expensive (in our opinion). When you rent, you must tell the car company you are going to Oman. I think they also require you to get the insurance through them, not at the border. <em>edited by gleekfamily on 23/01/2011</em>
