So we have the dreaded cockroaches appearing in our villa... what do you use to get rid of them? We've sprayed Raid for cockroaches and put down some of those little bait traps... will that be enough? Don't want to get those professional companies in as we have pets.... any top tips to get rid and prevent would be appreciated!

You can tickle me pink and call me daisy if I remember the name, but I got a gellish tube from (I know this is going to be VERY USEFUL) Spinneys or Carrefour that you apply in the corners of your cupboards. It works like a charm! When you can remember the name...

Get a professional pest control company in who will treat your property. We had this done and never have problems.
yeah I know but i always worry about the chemicals they use after lots of people and pets dying... we're cockroach free for day 2 now... so hopefully what we've done has worked. i don't know why they make my skin crawl so much!! I guess it's cos where I'm from you have to be mega dirty to have them in the first place... it's different here though.

i have loads of animals here (cats, dog, chickens, native birds, geckos) and hate the idea of using chemicals. I just lived with the bugs that would appear when it gets hot. After being scared late at night a few too many times to bugs sitting and waving to me from my (very clean) counters, I decided to use something stronger than powder. I didn't realize that they were coming up the pipes from our very ancient plumbing system (we live in a very old villa). We have used National pest control for a few years now and I have had no further issues with cockroaches. They are only allowed to spray underground, they open the plumbing traps and spray inside. That did the trick for us.

Burn the place down..... Jokes! I'm afraid just a lot of cockroach killer spray like Raid will be needed until the little creeps get the hint. If it's too out of hand, I'm sure pest control will most definitely be worth the dirhams A little home-made DIY recipe for cockroach killer is boric acid, cornstarch or sugar... the latter too attract them, while the acid kills them... Wouldn't know where to find boric acid in Dubai though
