My DD's boy friend from uni wants to come and stay at Easter, if he flies Emirates I believe they will arrange a visit visa - then someone told me the charge is AED 1000 plus a AED 2k deposit. I don't mind putting up the deposit but find paying 1k rather expensive (!) can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks!

Will do Sue, I may even fill out the online forms myself on his behalf - or is that being just too bossy??

Well CP, make sure he follows all the directions when he appies so he is not refused :). I know with the Canadian visa they do stress that you have read the directions and all requirements to leson the chances of refusal and not getting back the non refundable payment .....

I called the EK Call Centre and the guy I spoke to was pretty helpful, it sounds like the cost is US $57 plus $17.50 application fee, and also a refundable deposit. He must buy a flexible return ticket in case it is refused though!!
