A good place to look for cheap crochet supplies is Daiso. You can also find supplies at most Lulu Hypermarkets. I personally love the Daiso crochet hooks, it is much nicer to use than the more expensive hooks from other suppliers.
I'm sorry I don't know where any shops selling crochet supplies are, but wanted to tell you about a lovely blog about crochet projects its called Attic 24. You should find it if you just google that. I'm going to try to put a link at the bottom of my post but don't know if that will work.
