Damaged my car, now what ?

As I was trying to exit my carport (new house, not used to it yet!), I scratched the side of one of the back door. Basically, only the paint has gone, there is no other damage. But now, what shall I do if I want to have it fixed ? Is it possible to do it without police report ? do you need police report for such an incident ?
Thanks for helping

Someone hit our car in Abu Dhabi while it was parked and didn't leave a note. It didn't dent the car but left an ugly scratch and took a large chunk of paint off. DH took it to the dealership in AD and they took care of it without a police report. It only cost a couple hundred dirhams and you can't tell it was ever hit. I couldn't believe how well they did and for next to nothing.

Call Martyn Lewis at Prodent Auto Repairing. They are a British run dent removal and paint touch up repair company. They do not need a police report and are very reasonable. They are mobile, so will come to you. All their technicians are from the UK. Martyn's number is : 050 2402899 Tell him Suzanne recommended him.

You can get it fixed. I hit a pylon in a parking garage and put a fist-sized dent in our car. DH called the police who said they don't take a report for damage you do yourself if it is just appearance, not to safety equipment (lights?, doors?) or mechanics. Dealership fixed it with no questions.

garages should not fix any damage without a police report. but of course you will find some that will.

No, I am happy (well not really but...) to pay for it as it was my own mistake. So you reckon I can go and get a quote / have it fixed without any report ? That's a relief

Check your insurance policy to see if it would actually be covered before you go to the police station.

If you want to claim it back from your insurance you will need a police report.

you shouldn't need one if it's minor.
