Just in case anyone's missing their cat, I found one that had been hit by a car this afternoon :(. He or she was ginger with a white belly but had no collar on, on the road coming back from the Montgomerie towards SZR.

I know :(. Each to their own and I don't want to disrespect anyone's culture, but somehow I doubt the slaughter is humane and they could be lost pets.

Eeeeurgh. I know one of the local rags did a story about this a while ago but I don't think they were able to find any evidence - if you can get hold of a photo it might be worth sending it in for a follow-up piece.

They're probably doing it because they will eat anything in China. I once worked with a very nice chinese colleague in London who brought in a bottle of brandy to celebrate Chinese New year. What a nice gesture. Then I noticed the dead rat which had sunk to the bottom of the bottle and was adding a bit of extra flavour. When she pulled out a brown paper bag with half raw chicken feet in I made my excuses and went to the toilet for half an hour.

Are they doing this because it's a delicacy to them or because they don't have enough food? And how did you come to hear about it? This was my first question too, but they get plenty food, as it's a site that provides all meals seemingly it's a cultural thing, they don't think there is anything wrong in eating them. Have seen actual photos of the skinned animals hanging outside their accommodation, management is about to tell them its not allowed, but they may just then hide the evidence rather than have it on show.

On a similar note If you've lost your cat and you are from jebel Ali, discovery gardens etc area I have some bad news - Chinese workers on a labour camp have been observed skinning and hanging up dead cats etc and preparing them as food. trying to get it stopped but as the saying goes "one mans meat is another mans poison"
