I think the guy heading it is on to a bonus this year... topped all the rules I have ever encounted in my years in Dubai. We are moving home next week and asked for the procedure to relocate our lines, internet, TV subscription. Our new tenancy contract is in my husband's name. Our Du account, which was set up 8 years ago, in my name. they won't accept a straight relocation because they have a new rule that says the tenancy contract and the account must be in the same name.... we have to terminate our current contract, return our boxes, cables etc, pay an early redemption fee as we upgraded our broadband a couple of months ago. Then we have to create a new account, pay a connection fee, and wait for new boxes, cables to be delivered...

ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME ? 2 hours on the phone this morning to no avail..... and when we finished the call, they still had the guts to say ' anything else I can help you with ?....'

I want to scream !!!

I have bashed my head so hard against the wall regarding this. I used to do everything regarding our Du account (yes I set it up as well), but suddenly they will only deal with my husband. So we have long conversations where I try to set things up, try to give them money, and then they say, "If you could just get your husband to give us a call to confirm this" - and I want to punch their lights out. For what it's worth, we own our house and it's in joint names so it's not like he's the homeowner. Stupid stupid policy. Yep me too, it took 3 months to get them to put an extra connection in another room as they coud only speak to dh and he travels all the time and unless they spoke to him the morning of coming they wouldnt come!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr

They certainly would win the award for the stupidest procedures! We had a similar thing when we applied for the Football world cup package which they said we have to take for a minimum of 6 months. If after 6 months we decide to cancel it thats no problem, only we would have to cancel ALL the services, get our deposit back and then re apply for the internet! Needless to say we didnt bother cancelling the TV, we did how ever upgrade recently.....thats another story!

I had to have written permission from my DH so that they would let me set up a DU account for our household... it was tragic... I mean, it's not like I'm signing his life savings away?!

When I speak to du on the phone I put on a deep voice and pretend I am my husband. Works every time.

This made me laugh. I have been watching filipino channels for 3 months whilst my maid has had my movies plus package. The technician in his wisdom installed pinoy plus on my tv box and movies plus aswell as pinoy plus on her tv box when he upgraded us to HD boxes. It seems I have several more hoops to jump through before they will reverse their own mistake! I spend hours on the phone to them - on the plus side I am now almost fluent in tagalog!
