Thanks Izzy99 - hospitals have been evacuated... not really anywhere else for the people to evacuate to as its such a large cyclone. They just have to hold on and hope for the best. Inshallah

Can I ask...how often do you guys have these sandstorms? You've had - what - 2 or 3 nasty ones in the last week? Is that common or is that an anomaly? I knew there were sandstorms there, but had no idea they were this common!

I've heard of those from some friends Izzy. Must be quite an amazing sight. And here I am getting excited about a little sand :) totally amazing - like the whole sky had been tangoed (for those who remember those ads). Have also been in a taxi from Riyadh airport and had to pull over and wait it out as there was NO visibility - now that was a bit more scary.... I would be more scared if the driver did not pull over.....as is more likely in Saudia

It is unusually windy here. This time I am NOT going to miss it. Last week I saw the wind, drew the curtain and took a nap :( Missed out on my first real sandstorm wasn't a real standstorm.... when i was in Riyadh there was a massive sandstorm, lasted days and the whole sky was orange with sand..... you literally couldn't go outside without covering your eyes, nose and mouth.... was amazing to watch from the safety of inside.
