Does anyone download torrents? Is it illegal in Dubai? Here in NZ, they have just made a law which makes it illegal - as in, they will punish ppl.

no. But doesn't mean to say that if you are caught you wont be. As a rule the Dubai Police look at the whole situation and charge everyone involved (victim or not) according to whatever laws they have broken. ie, if you are a passenger in a car accident and you are drunk you will also be charged.

In NZ as of Sept - they will be actively looking for ppl that do this, I just want to know if they actively look for people do this in Dubai? edited by lidkekiwi on 29/07/2011

I do release it is illegal. What I mean, is in NZ you will be punished (recent act passed) ie fine, prison and not allowed internet. What I am asking is, do they peruse ppl for this in Dubai? ie take them to court, fine etc When I lived in the UK they both individuals who downloaded for their personal use. You have to be caught to be punished, jail, i wouldn't think so, more a fine in UK and WW unless massively downloading and sharing or copying and posting up for public use.
