Our neighbors are leaving and we would like to sponsor their maid. They are willing to transfer her visa. How do we proceed as we have never done this before (the neighbors have no idea either)? Do they cancel first and we start the process from there or do we go to Immigration together and somehow transfer the visa there or..? And when do we do the medical before or after the transfer? I have been searching EW for the info but can't find any. Please help!!!!!
TIA

Checked with the Immigration - how to get your deposit back: 1) You cancel maid's visa, she leaves the country and you can prove that she is actually gone = deposit back 2) You cancel maid's visa, she finds a new employer and you bring a copy of her new employment visa to the immigration = deposit back 3) You transfer maid's visa and after the new employer has finished the employment visa process, you bring a copy of her new employment visa to the immigration = deposit back We ended up not transferring our neighbors maid's visa. After 11 months of service (not even a full year as they chose not to renew her visa) she started demanding holiday pay and return ticket money from her sponsoring family. They checked the contract and called Immigration and no holiday pay & return ticket needed. Only one way ticket and only if she leaves the country. Maid got mad and refused to work. Next day she was on her way home...

I'm pretty sure that the other sponsors get their deposit money back once the visa has been transferred over. Check that with the guys at immigration when you all go in there.

So basically, we'll go to the Immigration together and with the help of an official there we transfer the maid's visa from our neighbors and start doing the medicals, etc. with her. Our neighbors were also wondering when will they get their deposit back - when the maid's visa has been transferred or when our sponsorship is finalized? Thank you for your advise so far!!!!

We did this with a maid we had met through a website. The other families visa was from Sharjah, so they had to take her there and cancel it in person. Then we had to apply for a whole new one here in Dubai- we took her along for the whole thing. The entire thing took a couple of days .... she had a two week period in which she was allowed to stay in the country whilst she was sponsored by another family. The hardest part was the waiting at the visa office, the medical and all the processing that comes with that. If your neighbouring family has a visa from Dubai, you can likely go together to the visa office and change it over like that. I think you will still both have to go together.

Start with the company/sponser who sponsers you. They may help you sort it.
