Hi lovely ladies, my husband and I would like to move to Dubai and my husband would like to come under my visa as he wants to look for investment opportunities and not work initially. I have 2 children and am looking to start working in Sept 2017.
1) I wanted to ask how easy it is to get a family visa in the teaching profession as the women in the family? I am a primary specialist.
2) When is the best time of year to apply for jobs?
3) Are there any job fairs or websites that I should concentrate on?
4) How much of a discount do schools offer dependents of teaching staff?
5) What benefits/packages do teaching staff generally receive e.g. Medical, housing etc?

I would really appreciate any help you can offer me as this is all new to me.

Hi there Thank you for the insightful information on how to hunt for jobs. I wanted to ask how would I know which schools to contact and apply too. Is there a website where schools put their own ads and cut out the agents? Any help or information regarding job hunting in the UAE and how to apply directly to schools would be highly appreciate. Thank you

Schools generally start recruitment for the following years around January - however I would advise you to apply directly to schools as soon as possible. The best teachers are snapped up early in the year. I work in a school, not in HR, however we advertise heavily in TES. GEMS have a recruitment website - Google GEMS Education careers. Entry requirements will depend on your nationality, where you gained your degree/teaching quals and experience, and different curricula have different entry criteria. At our school teachers on an overseas package get housing, medical and two full places for two children within our group of schools. Good luck! Lovely to see another fellow Welsh lady Cymares! Thank you for your reply it has been most helpful. So do you suggest I send my CV and covering letter to schools now instead of waiting until January when they would usually advertise? I would like to have a good shot of getting a job, and value any tips to help me along the way. I have been teaching for almost 14 years with a short career break while my children were young.
