Hopefully we'll be over the worst of the actual flooding by the 23rd.

I'm meant to be going on the 23rd but am not sure whether I should cancel or not it really seems a disaster zone maybe not a good idea to be going there

It will depend on where your mum has to come from to get to the airport I would think.

My family were due to fly in here to Brisbane and have cancelled because it's obviously not the ideal situation to be flying into a disaster zone. If your mum is flying Thursday and is in an area cut off by flooding from the airport then I don't think she'll be making her flight. The Brisbane River is set to peak on Thursday at levels higher than the 1974 floods. To put it in some perspective for you girls not here, 1974 claimed 12 lives, we are at over 20 dead and over 80 still missing and flood waters haven't hit Brisbane itself yet or peaked in other areas.

So they have cancelled there flights? As they cant get to the airport? The reason i ask is my mum is suppose to fly out Thursday to visit. Have not seen her for 18months. :( Just trying to work out what we should do. Re-schedual the flight now or wait and take our chaces of her not getting there.

Shellly where are you? My brother and his family were flying in tomorrow but have cancelled. They're saying the airport should be still okay and operational but I guess if you're staying somewhere that's flooded, it's a matter of being able to get there. We're in Coorparoo and is one of the top 20 or so suburbs on flood alert for tomorrow and Thursday - our street looks to be safe because we're so high, but I don't fancy our chances of being able to go anywhere other than the next door neighbours. Can't believe it's been so ferocious and so many dead and missing.

It is just devastating! We also have many many friends affected by this. Some were evacuated from work during the day today, it was just so scary for them all. I'm here in QLD at the moment and its just SO bad. Not sure we can even fly out tomorrow. Fingers crossed! PLEASE everyone, say a little prayer!
