You could always get the name from a shop or stall in the mall then just pop somewhere else to buy it. Having said that, I didn't spend a fortune ( I don't actually know what I bought though, its smells amazing, its like soaked wood pieces) and was about 40dhs for the size/weight I bought. I know in Dubai Mall at LG floor, Arabian Court there are some really helpful staff at that oud stalls. I also found the stalls in MCC really helpful. Never been to the Oud shops though, just because like you - don't really know what I want and find it easier to walk away from stalls.

Thanks Izzy - have been into shops before in other countries and have had a hard time explaining what I wanted and then was shown all these other things that I didn't want to buy. I hate shopping at the best of times, so thought it would be good to get an idea of approx. price and some recommendations beforehand....will venture into a few mall shops and smell a few of their products this weekend......

go into the shop - and explain to them what you want, they will burn a little bit of the ones they think you will like...... My standard one is the incense ball things (no idea what they are called) - i get the Jumeriah one from Yas perfumes.... i have no idea how much it is but it doesn't make me flinch so it cant be that much :)

Have often walked by Oud shops and smelled this great smell like turkish delight/roses coming from the burners outside. Anyone have any idea of the name of it or a recommended shop where I can buy it? Not looking to spend a fortune, as I know these things can cost a lot.....I bought an incense burner in Oman that came with some coals and bought some incense called Bukhoor Dhofari which smells lovely in the jar - unfortunately, when I burn it, I don't like the smell very much...don't want to make the same mistake again... Thanks
