First post of 2011, so Happy New Year to all.
Going to Global Village tonight and wondering if the food is ok there - safe or dodgy?!
Thanks.

Was there last wed. Egyptian pavillion, a restaurant food served outside the pavillion with lots of table and chairs. Delicious, fresh and hot (temperature) dishes. Sharwarma sandwish only 7 Dhs. Falafel were great. I was there with Egyptian friends and they said it is good... even the stuffed pigeon.

3 years later and i still have hideous memories of the week-long food poisoning i caught from global village. still, it saved me going on a new year diet!

Thanks for the replies. We hd a good look around and everywhere was very quiet. Have to say nothing much appealed so confess we settled for Pizza Hut! Wimps!!

The meshawa (a thin bread spread with egg, cheese and this delicious marmite-y tasting thing which I believe comes from fish?) from the little 'local' tent places is yummy...also the lugemat, I could scoff 20 of those things. It's certainly not cheap, which does surprise me as I see very few expats there and lots of locals - would expect places to have 'normal' prices not 'tourist' prices but hey ho.

Avoid the KFC - my husband thinks he got food poisoning from there.

We sat and had shwarmas in the Iranian pavillion at the restaurant set up inside there - they were fine and cheap.

I recommend the kababs and tikkas at Bundu Khan. Even had some rolls packed for lunch the next day.
