If endoscopy is done without sedation, it will be the most horrific exam you ever had. Thankfully, in Dubai they will put you to sleep. Good luck!

I had an endoscopy in the UK via NHS... it was horrific and the consultant I saw privately said that they are barbaric. He wanted me to have another one but I was too scared after the first experience. But he assured me that I wouldn't feel or remember any of it, and if I did he would waive his fee. So I went for it and sure enough it was a totally different experience. I had some throat spray to numb it same as the first time and a really good dose of sedative. It was painless and wouldn't hesitate in doing it again now. Can't comment on the colonoscopy other than my mum has had a few and she said that she didn't remember any of it, same consultant as I had privately. So just make sure you get a good sedative and if they tell you the throat spray is adequate for you not to feel anything get up and leave!!!! Good luck and I am sure you will fine.

I did an endoscopy here in Dubai last year. You sleep throughout the procedure and there's absolutely no pain. They insert a small tube with a camera down your throat so they can see if your digestive system is fine. If they need to they'll collect tissue to do a biopsy. In my case the only side effect was a minor throat discomfort, and it only lasted 2 or 3 days tops. I don't recall how long it took to get the results. Maybe 1 week, not more than that.
