We were told 95% a girl at the 12 week scan and at around 16 weeks it was 100%. Apparantly (and I cannot remember where I heard or read this or even if its true) its not just whether they can see the private parts, but also certain measurements taken at that time. i also had a scan at 12 weeks...and the good doctor said "its a boy"...while turning the monitor for me to see his little , up in the air p***s:) and sure enough it was a boy...

Dollymud that is so funny, my dh did the same thing as our first scan showed we may be having a boy but then turned out to be a girl at later scans - at each appt he asked the dr or nurse if it was still a girl and we got pretty much the same reaction as you!!

Im 36 weeks pregnant and had a gender scan at 16 weeks at the Fetal Med Hosp in healthcare city, they said boy, and at the 2 other routine scans at AH , at 20 and 32wks was told it was indeed a boy, i tried to joke with the sonnographer, and said oh good he hasn't changed his mind then? and she looked deadly serious and said, madam this is not possible!

Thats a shame! I had triplets and did not want to know what I was having!! That was 23 years ago and normally in UK then they did not tell you. Actually her exact words were "and this one...he is the pe[b'>nn[/b'>[u'>[/u'>is" I was giggling so much I didn't have time to get annoyed

My son is 2 1/2 so might not be recent enough for you but we were told the gender at the 20 week scan. I say "told" as we didn't actually ask but the nurse blurted out "and there you can see his penis" as she scanned my stomach.

I've had a scan at 16 weeks and our dr could clearly see that we are having a boy. I think its easier to tell with a boy as they got it wrong last time until about 20 weeks (at 12 weeks said there was 70% chance we were having a boy but by 20 weeks it was confirmed we were having a girl!) Also will depend on how the baby is lying.
