So in September my baby boy will join his sister at school. This means that for the first time in 5 1/2 years I will get some of my life back..if only for a few hours each day. Majorly excited about this.

I know its a way off yet but I want to start thinking about what I will do. Ideally I would like to work but I will only have about 4 hours each day so not sure if there is much work out there for part timers. I already have a Business Degree so I dn't want to do any more courses or anything....hmm.....ideas ladies for a soon to be semi-free woman????

As I know I would be working if I went back home I am just enjoying being a lady of leisure (don't tell my DH though, hehe) :D

In the same vein as programs that help people get ready for retirement or the re enter the workforce why not start a program that helps mums overcome the 'If I am not looking after the kids then what?' syndrome. hmmmm I like it....although its tougher here than back home to find part time work or work with flexible hours or even help with the children. I am not a fan of maids. In principle its a great idea. Perhaps its something I can work on alongside the Fairy Godmother Group?

ideas ladies for a soon to be semi-free woman????Come over and try to even out the left end of my couch cushion by sitting on it to make it as flat as the right end. I've been sitting on it in one place, enjoying the absolute freedom of doing b. all :) Now THAT is a tempting offer!

Me too!! My DD will be joining her older brother at school so a bit of me back after 4 years being a full-time Mum. Am thinking about trying for a TA job at the school but wine in the afternoon in the garden sounds good too!!

thanks CT...good ideas, but I really want to do something where I feel useful and where I am mixing with grown ups. Not particularly interested in a course but perhaps volunteer work would be a good avenue to pursue. Just want to get "me" back again!

Given drop offs and pick ups I think working may be difficult as you will only have a few hours. Consider looking at courses/degrees beyond your business beackground. I am studying while I am here but it is a topic that I enjoy and is not even remotely related to my previous studies or what I do for a living and I love it. Take up a hobby, join a club, start a club, volunteer at a charity, explore the nooks and crannies of Dubai, start a blog, tackle your put off list (like filing and getting pension stuff sorted), read a book in 3 days, watch all the Law & Order shows , or whatever series (all varieties all seasons), sleep or a mix of all of these. Enjoy the time :)
