Went to GV last night and planned to get some Yemani Honey from the Yemen pavillion. The guy was very helpful and gave us lots of samples to try. We decided to buy a half kilo jar (standard size jar and the smallest). Our mistake was not asking the price before we agreed to take some.... 100AED for a small jar. DH almost keeled over..LOL!!

Was this a fair price? Or were we "done up like a couple of kippers"? It seems extremely expensive, even Manuka Honey isn't that expensive when I've seen it in the stores here.

I was there last night. Bought at Yemen, India, Malaysia and Morocco. All these stores are negotiable. Most items bought are either cannot be found at Dubai stores or are cheaper than the Dubai stores. I bargained of course. Had dinner at the Egypt. Fresh and hot dishes!! The Falafel is delicious. At the Iranian store, the pistachio nuts were 80Dhs a kilo which I thought was expensive. Does anyone know where to get good pistachio nuts? How much are they a kilo normally?

Have been looking online at the prices of Yemeni Honey. Actually looks like we got a good price. Didn't realise how wonderful it potentially is, especially it medicinal properties.

Was going to post the same question about Argan Oil from Morocco Pavillion......bought a small bottle - approx 4"x2" (10cmx5cm). starting price was 70dhs, but he came down to a 35dhs "special" price. It will last for ages and feels lovely, but still not sure if it was the going rate.

Thanks everyone. I knew it wasn't cheap, but wasn't expecting it would be that much. Good job we didn't ask for the kilo or 2 kilo jar size!! We will certainly enjoy it!:)

Zannie, that sounds about right, if it was the superior quality Aed 85-100 is what they charge. It is delicious and friends who have visited the Yemen say it's not that much cheaper. As you say, as long as they eat and enjoy it, good buy! :))

Guessed it would be around the 40AED mark? Still don't feel too bad about it now. Both DH and DD loved it, so as long as it gets eaten it won't be a waste. The sales guy must have been chuffed with such an easy sale!!

I have looked at websites that sell it and it is expensive, some sites were $50 for a small pot. I was interested because my MIL loves the stuff.
