Hi Ladies,
does anybody have a contact number to the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority or work in HR in the Zone?
I need to get some legal advise about gratuity payment.
I have contacted the Minsitry of Labour but was told that they dont deal with the issue if you are employed in a Free Zone :(
I have found the website for the Free Zone but no contact details to the Authority itself only info about companies operating in the Zone.
Is there anyone working on a HR department in the Media Free Zone who cold help me, please?
I dont really want to pay a lawyer just to get one answer from him.
thanks a lot,

Your husband can go to the Tecom offices in Block 14. The have a labour advise service there, and will talk him through the details. I had a probelm on a tecom contract with my employer withholding grat's and they provided mediation and supported me with my claim. I was on an openended contract through, not sure their policy on limited contracts so best to speak to them. He will probably need to go their in person with his contract. Tecom often aren't very good at discussing things over the phone.

MM, also heard that even if you break contract you are entitled to gratutity for the years you have completed, even though the meployer will say not. All the cases i know that have gone to TECOM have been won by the employees or settled out of tribunal.

re look at the TECOM website and call one of the numbers and ask to speak to one of their lawyers or make an appointment, as i understand it you can go ans speak to them free of charge. I am pretty sure you are entitled to your gratutity from a friend who was in a similar position, but he went to the TECOM lawyers (free) for advice in his case.

Whats your question? I can see if I can help ....... My husband has been on a limited contract for 2 years. His workpermit card was issued by Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority so the Ministry of Labor will not discuss any issues with him. The contract naturally ran out without and extension. Is he entitled to gratuity? I have read the Labour Law but it is not mentioned (only limited contracts exceeding 5 years). How does the law work here? If it is not mentioned that he is NOT entitled, does it mean he IS? thanks Babylons
