How safe is it to drive from Cape Town to Franschoek TIA we drove from cape town all the way past george not a problem at all. to make things look like you are not a tourist, then invest in a sat nav and then just have it down by the gears and so you havent got a map in your hand and look obvious a tourist etc. lovely place would go back again, and didnt encounter any problems at all

Franschoek - quint little French town and one of my favorites! :D Very easy to drive to, safe and very scenic! Through the vineyards & beautiful mountains! Take the N1 out of Cape Town, follow the Paarl signs, once you reach Paarl, take the R44 turn off and then follow the signs to Franschoek! Slim chance of getting lost, so safety should not be a concern! Enjoy

Driving is on the left side of the road so opposite from here, stay on the main roads and just drive defensively just like you do here. It's a 45 minute drive from Cape Town and you will pass through some incredible scenery and a few mountain passes.
