Hi Angela, I'm in similar situation with you, I know a philippines lady who's here on visit visa (her sister made it for her). I'd like to sponsor her as full time maid. How long is the process to make the pink form? I believe the person you're sponsoring has to leave UAE, before you can apply the maid visa ? Did you send her to Muscat alone? Thank you for your valuable information. If she is already here its easy. You can go in and make the pink form at immigration in one day. To do it while she is still here you will need to pay approx 500aed for an in country visa status change (otherwise you would have her waiting in the other country while you made the visa for her and sent it to her). If its visit visa she wont have to fly out - if its tourist visa she will need to fly out and turn around and come straight back. You can send them out and back on a flydubai flight in one afternoon for around 400dhs

If she is in the Philippines - you must use an agency. I just went through this process trying to avoid using an agency - immigration is so strict in the Philippines its futile. Until recently you could easily fly them direct to Dubai on visit visa, or flying to Malaysia/Singapore/elsewhere then onto Dubai. We tried both of these within the past 2 weeks and neither work - they are just too strict now. They flatly refused to let her through immigration in Manila. After much time wasted I ended up just having to bring her in on employment visa. If you want to fly her to Dubai on an employment visa - she will need an OEC (overseas employment certificate.) To get this, you must send her a visa, as well as a contract that is signed by you and attested by the POLO (Philippines overseas labour office) here in Dubai - amongst other things you must state salary at or above the minimum for Philippines (1400-1500dhs). Unless you are local or a VIP - you cannot get this attested by POLO yourself - they will only attest if you use an agency. Their regulation that there is no direct hiring of domestic staff, After you have the visa and attested contract you must send them to her Philippines. She then must undertake a medical from one of the approved clinics (often needing an agency) and complete a basic few days training. Once those two things are complete she must visit POEA office in Philippines with all the documents to get the OEC. Agencies will quote you 30-40 days for this entire process. My maid already had medical and training and it still took 15 days before she could fly. Most agencies wont charge you any less if you find your own maid - they will charge you the same as if they'd found her for you (usually around 7000-8500dhs including her flight). Some do offer the paperwork only - for around 3500-4000 if you buy her plane ticker yourself, or 6000 if you want them to buy her ticker for you). I consider the agency fees a rip off - but at the end of the day I wasted so much time trying to get around it I wish I had have just done it from the beginning Hope this helps

We did this recently but was made a little easier because her sister was here. She came to Dubai via China on a tourist visa we then had a month to convert this to employment visa she then had to fly to muscat and enter on pink visa form. You then have 2 months to finalise sponsorship. All went smoothly not sure how to arrange tourist visa though as her sister did that for her.

So we found out that you have to have an agency no matter what...so perhaps you need to find a agency.

We are in the exact same position. Found someone without an agency and need to start the process. I've been trying to speak to the Philippine embassy since morning, but noone is answering the phone. I've even sent them email, let's see if they'll reply. Anyone have a clue on what we should advise our potential employee to do from her end? We will apply for the residence visa from here, does this have to be sent by original to the Philippines? It's all really confusing. I've been going through old threads, but somehow can't get the right info. :-(

I was recommended a maid by someone I know in Philippines, and we are looking to get her visa processed. We have the visa, and the maid is now in Manila. But we found out that she has to do a medical there. I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to go about this without an agency? She has told us that she needs the original visa, verified by some Overseas Laborer agency before she can do the medical...and she also has to be trained for a day there. Any ideas?
