What is going on with this honking?! I live in the marina near the JBR walk and it's been awful the last few nights. Last night it woke my baby at 3 am!

apparently, according to DH, they were doing donuts here in Ranches last night ..... he wondered what the heck was going on ... could have been connected?? He was seething but they were moving so fast he could get the number plate! Was just after midnight, I was away with the fairies by then!

I feel your pain. Lived in JBR for 3 years and initially it was dead quiet because it was still a construction site on the walk, but the final year we lived there it drove me mad. I know it depends on which building you are in -and ours was particularly bad. Fun fairs, parades, loud music from events and the cars and bikes drove us away. Unfortunate as it is great living on the beach and having the convenience of amenities at your doorstep.

Called to complain, and the police have advised that they will come out any time of the day to stop this - but you have to call when its happening. Eventhough I believe its not an emergency... they advised to call the emergency line 999 The closest police station is Jebel Ali - and they will respond, so you can also telephone the number of the station (listed here http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/dp/english/e_services.jsp?Page=A460&TlcCode2=17) then they will come out to stop the noise.

After living in the marina for over 4 years, and never complaining to the police - after last night I am complaining to the police as it drives us spare. We live on a relatively high floor, and it sounds like cars are driving through our front door. It is not the honking as much as the loud revving and the ridiculous harleys doing the loops of the walk at JBR. FFS get a hobby other than driving round and round until 4am, or if you must drive in your own effing neighbourhood. In New York they have no honking in residential areas.... lets hope that something like that is implemented here.

No idea - but if you have kids in the Greens please ask them to communicate with each other with words or laughter please - the ones in my block only communicate in high pitched squeals - -and the little gits proper shafted my afternoon today and I didn't even have a hangover..... This afternoon I will be recording it and bringing it right back atcha at a time convenient to me :-) can I extend this to the little S**T and his parents that live opposite me and is brought home after 11pm every night screaming his little lungs out? He must be all of 2 years old.. but hey what's a bedtime for a toddler?!

I think JBR is a terrible place for residents, but a good place for visitors

I thought it was related to the Saudis in town for their public holiday. I went to bed at 1am last night and it was still going. DH got up for the wadi run thing at 4.30am and it was still going. I would like to suggest where all those petrol heads ought to stick their exhausts....

It's been going on for the past few days and seems more traffic related to me, I hear it when i look down at the bridge and see gridlock. I could deal with some good celebratory honking if it was just for that, but honestly not necessary after 23:00, no?
