feedback - so ladies, tried the tin foil/bicard method - can't say it was a HUGE success - but i think maybe i didn't use enougth bicarb, so will give it another go. Dubai Twee - went into lakeland for the silver storage bags - not only did they not have any - they'd never heard of them - nor is there anythign on their website - could you elaborate so i can try and track them down? thanks all

I would think if the stones are set (have claws to keep them in place) as opposed to glued - some might be OK. I would do a little more research about specific stones before taking the risk. I've used the same technique before (couldn't remember the formula so didn't post) and it works well for solid silver (no stones).

Found this on the web. Think I will give it a try. Whenever you used a commercial silver cleaner you are taking some of the silver off with the tarnish. Tht really hurts the silver if it's silverplate. Soon youwon't have any silver left. SO remove the tarnish without removing the silver. 1.Line deep pan with aluminum foil. lay your silver pieces on the foil. They MUST touch. 2.Boil some water, enough to cover your silver. Add some salt to the water, like you would for pasta, a few tablespoons full. 3.When the water boils, add 1-2 cups of baking soda. 4.When it is dissolved, pour the hot water over the silver items making sure they are still in contact with the foil. 5.Let the water mix do it's thing. It sometimes happens immediately.

Lakeland - great. Was thinking the same thing sorting through my silver and boom this thread comes up. lol. anyone know where I can get the silver cleaner thats a liquid thingymajig. I used to get it from HPJ on the highstreet. Its like a small tub of liquid with a cage inside. You drop your silver in for 10 seconds and boom they come out sparkle sparkle. any ideas?

Make sure it's spotless before you put it away. Also, I have used ENJO cloths for years and the green kitchen glove gets silver clean in no time (with no chemicals :) ).

i've tried everything!! tissue paper, zip-lock bags, those silicone sachet thingies - anyone got any fool proof methods? SO hate having to take it out and make sure its not all black before i wear any of my (few bits) of silver - kind of takes the spontinaeity out of it! be very grateful!
