This is for a friend; Quick outline of story;

Sponsor left country in summer last year and maids visa ran out at end of sept, she is working for another family (yes i know) and they want to sponsor her but don't know how to cancel her visa from the sponsor who left. The sponsor's sponsor has not yet cancelled his visa and says wait until he has done that and then he can do the maids. Any feedback. (sound well dodgy to me)

I would say to forget it and employ a new maid, and this maid should go to immigration and say she was abandoned. His deposit will pay for her repatriation I believe. If the Original sponsors visa is now cancelled due to being out UAE for more than 6 months were does that leave the maid? edited by Jumeriah Jane on 12/01/2011 In S creek. with no paddle. Your friends should abandon ship soon. I agree with SQ - they are all in the S Creek without a paddle....... I think they have to walk away and the maid has to fess up that her sponsor has not returned.......really as soon as she knew they were not returning she should have made sure she had a new sponsor did she really think it would be OK to be here on an expired visa.....oh boy what a mess for everyone....

If he's been out of the country for over 6 months my understanding is that yes - his visa is cancelled...... Why on earth did they not sort this out when her visa ran out - it's now a complete mess......so the sponsors visa is probably on auto cancel and hers is run out - so she's been illegal here since Sept and these people would have known that...... she will have overstay fines and, as she's been working illegally will probably have to leave - and I suppose your friends could well pick up a really big fine for employing her and continuing to employ her on an expired visa...... what a mess..... sounds like they'll all get it every which way.....

the sponsor (your friend) should have done it before they left, also if anything was to happen they would be responsible even if they were not in the country. if the visa has run out some 3/4 months ago there will be fines isnt it 100 per day which will need to be paid off anyways. No BB not my Friend, this is for a friend who has the maid and they had her under his sponsorship as thier visa's were from another emirate i understand. So they employ and have the maid and the original sponsor did a bunk in the summer but now i'm thinking that his visa will be cancelled as he has been out fo the country for over 6 months. Just trying to help them as they want to actually sponsor her! edited by Jumeriah Jane on 12/01/2011

your friend will need to send back his passport/copy in order to cancel his visa too so yes they can be done same time, but he will still be liable for the fines i would suspect
