Hi Jwal,
i called HRI because I had heard the show just like Goose but found thema bit pricey for my budget - if someone knows another similar place, just le tme know as well, please!!!
I have been going through the same questions on my career as you and you can find a lot of tests online like career tests that can give you some directions. I found out quite a few interesting things about myself :) and you can then try to pursue qualifications in that area and that does not have to be college, some time some short course can even do it, at least for a start.
Good luck.
start with what genuinely interests you - it doesn't have to be a job as such, but what you find interesting, like "how people interact" or "producing stuff"... then work out what floats your boat, what you get satisfaction from, so things like "getting things really organised" or "helping people" or "solving problems".
If you list out these things, it'll give you a bit more of a direction and it'll also help you assess if a job is good for you.
Thanks Goose, I just had a look, it looks like the kind of place that would charge me a fortune to do one of those psychometric tests then tell me I should be a vet, or a dentist! lol! Maybe I'll call them! Anyone else with any ideas?
probably:), but it was the only one i could remember.
on the other note...mb start thinking about what you always wanted to do...as that is what i see my self doing.
JWAL - Good thread, i'm also thinking I need some help but have no idea where to begin - my DH is quite a bit older than me and I think i may be the one having to support us in not too many years time - but "what to do" is the question...
Start with the things you like.....
Are you arty?
Like children?
Mathmatically minded?
etc etc
Once you decide where your natural talents lie then start to think of areas where you could apply these talents and perhaps look for courses that can develop them

I'm increasingly thinking of changing my direction as well, as the little ones are growing up...i would like to get another degree and start fresh... but I do have few years a head of me.

There is an institute in Dubai that can help you with that(testing and advising).I was listening to radio show week or so ago...let me find the name...
Did any ladies on here start their careers later in life, in their 30's? Where did you start? Now my children are all approaching school age I would really like to forge a career but I don't know where to start, I spend hours researching on the internet things I think I'd quite like to do, I'm just seriously lacking direction! Anyone else felt like this and gone on to achieve something?
