Ladies, after looking for a full-time housemaid to stand in for one month recently, I now have 3 lovely Sri Lankan housemaids available and looking for full-time work. All of them are highly recommended - either by myself or by close friends. They all speak good English, are great with children and good around the house - more like family than housemaids. One has her own visa and the other 2 need to be sponsored. Call me on 050 6558224 if you want more details or an introduction as it is so important to find a good lady and more important that she is recommended by a friend. Cappie, Just wanted to add its illegal to hire a maid who has their own visa.

Have a look at this website www.backtobasicsuae.com they have a selection of home help on there. I've just been searching - they have to fill in a questionnaire and it tells you whether they have references or not.

I was on the list with them but I couldn't do it in the end - the maid only gets about 650DH from them - they say the rest is because it is so expensive and they are just covering costs and making a small margin but having done it myself I completely disagree with that logic. I think they use the fact that sites like this make everyone scared about hiring someone themselves.

Hi, I have a full time maid from Howdra, she started with us in November, I had to wait about 2 weeks until the 'next' batch had arrived, but 2 weeks wasnt unreasonable. Its hard to give a recommendation, in terms of our maid, I couldnt ask for anyone better, she is wonderful, fantastic with our children, nice to be around and really part of the family, but that isnt necessarily down to the agency, perhaps we arre lucky, also we havent had to deal with the agency much, so without any problems I dont know how they are in that respect. The only downside to the agency (and is the same with them all) is that we pay the x amount, and obviously we know she gets about a 3rd of that.
