Took me years and i mean years, to realise that they were saying vegimite sandwich - thought it was a knuckle sandwich and it made no sense!!!! lol.... Izzy, who are you supporting today? Can't say - don't want to offend anyone :)

India! India! India! So stressed am trying to avoid the TV. Argh. Pak- India Semi? SHUDDER. Will have to keep DH in the house and off the sauce. Last time, we were out and lets just say I got home hopping mad and he had a couple of bruises.

IMO Punters is a bad loser.... he sulks and i think "that" is one of the reason he gets so much grief..... To coin a phrase, "it's just not cricket" But having said that, he has arguably led Oz in one of their most formidable cricket stints..... Have to agree with that - despite everything, Ponting has played (and led) some amazing innings!

He's hardly on an island in that respect, Izzy. I've seen sulkers and moaners and swearers and utter idiots on the pitch over the past decade. But I think, in Ricky's case, that whole 'pride comes before a fall' bit is what gets the journos -- and cricket-lovers -- in a lather. Actually, strike that: the people who see only nastiness and a 'bad loser' syndrome in Ricky have been gnashing at the bit to see him get fined or worse. They're loving it. And they're loving seeing Oz tumble from so far above the other teams. I have to go out now [curses!'> but I could list you quite a few players who've come up short on the 'good sports' stakes, and Ricky is just one of their number. ;)

OMG,Now, an India-Pak semi is enough to make my BP soar and give me a heart attack. Don't think I can stand it.;) I hope I have a good strong heart but I am seriously worried for the males in my family: they think of Pak-India as a life-death situation .. It's not a match, it's a war! :) Lol,you're right!! It's rather odd,but I'm kind of anticipating such a semi. Been a long time since we've played against each other. It will be a full blown war.;)

em2san, I agree. I've been disappointed in him as well. But frustration exhibits itself in myriad ways, and more often than not, on [and off-'>field behaviour is beefed up, juiced up and dusted heavily with a malice it quite often simply doesn't deserve. Those poison pens have been after Punter for some time, and while I agree he hasn't been the most sporting of chaps recently, a lot of what has been written is utter garbage. The same can be said for many players in other teams as well, but when you're on the way out, you're grist for the mill. :( I prefer to remember him as a great player and yes, great captain too. And I hope he comes through with the goods today. :)

Ask me when/if Oz get knocked out today! :D It will be an absolute humdinger, to be sure, and yes, I will be following this Cup all the way to the death knell, but ohhh one always wants one's team to come out on top, surely? And for that, I want Oz go through. For Ricky. His swansong, if you will. Because goodness knows, he'll be given the boot after this series, and despite the many issues which have plagued him over the past year or so, he has been a fantastic servant to the game, and to Australian cricket. :) Personally, I'm feeling a bit resentful towards Ponting - I know this is his last worldcup but I do wish he was trying to exit with more grace and less tantrums :S edited by em2san on 24/03/2011

I'm going to follow this one ball-by-ball on twitter: it can be anyone's game! Another 'fun' one to follow is on the Grauniad. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/cricket Just go to the Australia v India Live! link on the page above for a good giggle. The guy who writes it is a huge cricket nut, very funny to boot, and prints contributions from readers. I was in yesterday. ;) Will do, WM - Need a few laughs to dispel the tension during the matches :) p.s. Does anyone else get *shivers* at the thought of a Pak-India Semi?
