Hi all, i live in sharjah from more than 5 years now but due to job and very busy schedule didnt look too much into sharjah. I live in Alnahda sharjah which borders al nahda dubai. So we r in dubai if we cross a road. What i want to know is that does anyone know any sports club or center where they gymnastics classes for kids. My daughter has recently developed too much interest in it and i want to enroll her for classes but dont know any place...pls. help...would b grateful....maryam

I'm sure ExpatWoman do have a Sharjah coffee morning - have a dig around the site and you should find the info. Also check out the Sharjah Ladies Club > [url=http://www.slc.ae/'>link[/url'> - I never had a chance to go as I was working in Dubai when we lived there, but lots of friends told me it's lovely, and you would meet loads of people there. They do art courses and I think some others, and also have a ladies only beach and health club. The courses alone would probably be a great way to meet people! Sharjah Wanderers is the other main expat type place I can think of, so it's good that you've joined there. Sharjah can be a bit of a shock to the system at first, but it does grow on you. Sometimes I really miss the proper 'expat' feeling I had living there, you really do feel like you're living in the Middle East as opposed to Dubai where often I feel I could be anywhere really.

No, she lives near the Aquarium, so she lives on the opposite side of the highway from Al Nahda/ Al Qusais. I lived in Sharjah many many years ago. Once you find a social group, you will be fine. THE beauty salon was Amwaj Salon, now between the Aquarium and the Carlton Hotel. I even did some aerobics classes there! Qanat Al Qasbah is much improved now, as is the Sharjah Ladies Club (esp their spa). There's a great florist off of King Faisal Rd called May Flowers, reasonably priced and tasteful!

Sharjah is actually quite spread out. We live just beyond the border of Dubai. That's what I meant by saying "the Dubai side of Sharjah" Most of my friends in Dubai are quite put off coming to Sharjah because of the traffic and the way the roads are laid out in a real "can't get there from here" way. You can see the building, but the road you're on just won't get you there!

i'm in Sharjah for about 5months already.i guess Sharjah is different with Dubai.do not compare at all otherwise you will feel ...(you will feel it later,don't worry,hahaha). nice place to hang out is at AL-MAJAZ WATERFRONT.nice place,cool place. most of the time we go to Dubai,especially weekend.it gives me better mood to end my week :)

My husband decided we should live closer to his job in Sharjah. So,we left Dubai after 2 1/2 years but still live on the Dubai side of Sharjah so that I can continue to meet up with friends at DFC coffee morning. I am wondering what expat meetings, coffee mornings, mahjong etc. Are happening in Sharjah. My DH and I are new members of Sharjah Wanderers.
