Kitten Keeps Poo-ing!

Our 2 kittens have settled in well but I have a problem with the female. She keeps messing in the same place in our sitting room. She knows where the litter tray is and uses it but every night she is returning to the same spot to do a poo. I've tried getting rid of any associating smell but she keeps doing it. Any advice?
