just saw this link on Gulf News (our local daily)... it also comes with a map so might help you place the locations of these places... [url=http://gulfnews.com/guides/life/property/cheapest-areas-to-rent-in-dubai-in-2016-1.1708644'>link[/url'>

Thanks again. I have emailed about wage, but the response was that they couldn't tell me, only HR as it's confidential. They did seem to imply that it would cover rent. Guess it's something I'd find out if I apply and am offered the job. Good to have an idea of what things cost in advance tho so I'm not hit by a shock when I realise the pay won't cover rent! The job would be 6 days a week which is fine by me, and I'm not one for wasting all my money on a night out, couple of quiet drinks every now and then would suffice (ladies night?). Days off would either be spent sightseeing, trying out some new water sports, by the pool or just going for a leisurely cycle if some of the cycle paths aren't too far away (not mad keen on cycling on busy roads whatever country!)

Ski Dubai is in Mall of the emirates which is in a proper residential area, you can find a room (shared or single) for rent in a home in Al Barsha and walk to your work every day. On the pay package, please be sure to talk to your employer, as guessing is not a good thing to do. Your income would dictate your lifestyle and hence you would need to avoid any bad surprises.

Thank you very much! Is there a map of some sort with a good overview of each area? I keep seeing all these names banded about (JVC, Motor City, IMPZ etc.) but can't seen to find a suitable map, ideally one that colour blocks each area so I can see immediately where things are in relation to one another... Have had a look on the dubizzle site, but as I don't really know any of the areas, the search was bringing up all sorts, especially when looking for a flat share, most of the results seemed to be for a bed space, something I don't want, I value my own space and privacy, although happy to share living areas. Plenty of options for second hand furniture and a bike too. The more I look in to this, the more I want to give it a go! I would be careful cycling here as the roads are very dangerous! Not the most updated map but this may help https://dubai.globaloutpostservices.com/global/images/imagegallery/housing/dubai_map.jpg The cheaper areas such as International City, Motor City, IMPZ and JVC are not on a Metro line and aren't in the centre of Dubai JVC, IMPZ and Motor City are close to the Arabian Ranches Motor City is a nice area with plenty of shops within walking distance, JVC if my memory serves me correctly is the newest of the above areas and there isn't a huge amount there, International City is a lot further out to Dubai than the other areas andIMPZ I don't know about House shares are easier to find once you get here but they aren't the easiest to find. Bed space is usually for very low income people and I am not being rude but you need to do your due diligence with regards to house shares as you have no idea who you may end up with, the money you handover being given to the landlord, the landlord being happy with several people sharing his home there are many illegal sublets and people have been scammed An idea of cost is here www.justrentals.com and www.propertyfinder.ae. Factor in if you live alone, deposit for studio, 1, 2 or 4 cheques being paid up front for said studio, agents finder fee, DEWA ( utilities set up fee) Internet and TV set up fee, the start up costs here are expensive as is the cost of living

the public transport system here is fairly efficient though only challenge is that it is fairly sketchy for areas that offer cheaper accommodation... studio apartments (both furnished and unfurnished) are available in relatively cheaper areas such as: - international city (costs roughly around 24K a year which is roughly 2K per month) - deira/alnahda (here the costs are cheaper but the buildings are a lot older and may not be as well maintained) - international media production zone IMPZ (costs roughly around 30K a year which is roughly 2.5K per month) - discovery gardens (not sure of current rentals but check on dubizzle) - silicon oasis (not sure of current rentals but check on dubizzle) - remraam (not sure of current rentals but check on dubizzle) all these developments are based in dubai... some people who opt for cheaper housing would decide to move to sharjah (the neighbouring emirate) but traffic between the emirate is an absolute nightmare at peak times... though keeping in mind that as a ski instructor you may not be subject to those normal working hours you might be able to consider this as an option other living expenses such as food, entertainment, etc is subject to your individual lifestyle... every city has relatively cheaper restaurants to eat at, relatively cheaper supermarkets to shop in, relatively cheaper places to get your clothes laundered, etc. as an example, i get my work clothes pressed at a laundry in Karama for AED 1.5 each piece where as the same in the area I live in (Jumeirah) costs me twice that amount at the least!

Hi everybody, new here and after a little bit of help/information if possible please. I've seen an instructor job advertised in Ski Dubai and I am very tempted to apply, I just want to be as fully informed as possible before I do so, so as not to waste anybody's time. The package they offer is flights, visa, medical insurance, equipment (tho I have my own so would probably bring that with me) and 14 days in a hotel. There is no mention of what the monthly wage is, but googling around bought up mention of around 7600 AED per month. Not much I know, but that's ski instructing, we don't do it for the money, we do it for the lifestyle and enjoyment. Just wondering if this is enough to cover rent (are singe rooms in a shared apartment readily available?) and have something to live off? Plan would be to rent a room in a shared apartment, or find myself a studio/1 bed place to myself. No plans to buy a car, not sure I'd need it if the public transport is efficient enough? Thanks
