Hello,

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and my husband's company health insurance does not cover maternity at all! I've called a few insurance company (Daman and ADNEC) and it takes 10 months for the policy to kick in. I cant do a hospital package either as my obstetrician is independent. She does deliveries at City Hospital but does not go under the hospital package. Do you know of any insurance which will take me on pregnant already? I don't mind paying a premium, I would just feel safer knowing that if there are any complications, I'm covered by an insurance.

Thanks for your help!

hi bianca congratulations! i went through the exact same thing this year - my baby is 10 weeks old. my work insurance didn't cover me. let me save you some time - no insurance company will cover ...
Thank you for your valuable input. I am 12 week pregnant and I just lost my current job due to the coronavirus situation. I did try to contact several insurance companies and they are all applying the 10/12 month rule. I would definitely be interested in getting a packing at City Hospital. The bills are already accumulating and it would be wiser to get a package ASAP. Could you please forward the name of your contact at City? Thank you again for your help.

ADNIC will cover you. when i spoke to them they said you had to be an AUH resident....have an AUH visa...then they changed completely and said they didn't do it any more. really? what a shame. my friend did it early in the year and she is Dubai based. It's not fair how they can just chop and change things as they please

Unfortunately the shortest waiting period is under BUPA & ALLIANZ which is 10 months. While all others are having 12 months waiting period. You can buy a maternity package at some of the hospitals here, but do make sure that your husband's policy will look after the baby once it is born.

Couple of Insurers are there, covering maternity with out cooling off period, but exorbitantly priced...The premium itself can cover the maternity cost unless one has complications during delivery. a decent insurance plan would cost around AED 6000 for a woman at late 20s and a weeks maternity expense in an above average hospital costs around AED 15000, No insurance companies are charitable trusts..the best option is continue with the same insurer for 2 years before you plan for kids ..( Not forgetting the fact that most of the times it happens accidently..as in my case atleast..lol)

hi bianca congratulations! i went through the exact same thing this year - my baby is 10 weeks old. my work insurance didn't cover me. let me save you some time - no insurance company will cover you without the 10 month rule. my best advice would be to see one of the great doc's at city who do come under packages. we paid around 5k for all the pre-baby appts, then the delivery cost will depend on vaginal or c section. in the end, it wasn't too expensive IMO, for the care you get. dr azizunissa is outstanding. now, if your baby needs NICU etc, that's another story, but you can get medical that covers your baby from birth, that's what we did. i can recommend a great advisor who sorted ours for us. hope that helps and congrats again!
