Missing Packages

In the last few months, two packages from the US addressed to my PO box have gone missing. One was from Amazon.com and the other a private package from my sister. I've never had trouble before and now I'm worried about sending anything to my PO box ...

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there anything I can do to find my packages?

At work ( higher education ) we order quite a lot through Amazon. In the past 6 month 3 parcels never made it ( books) and we got our money back right now I am waiting for 6 more ( due end Dec-beg Jan ). I did contact our business center who contacted Empost: there is nothing we can do. Really fed up.

The Amazon shipment contained two books on how to raise twins, so no, I don't think they were offensive. The other package contained soccer shirts for my son and a doll for my daughter, so again, not particularly offensive! But maybe someone in custom's is also expecting twins? :) You cynic, you :) Hope the packages finally turn up. I must say, all this is making me think we're better off not getting a PO Box and just keeping on getting everything important sent to our Shop & Ship addresses..

It's just occurred to me, as we have just received a book from Amazon via Shop &Ship and the package was clearly opened by Customs, maybe the Customs people could have considered what was in the missing packages "offensive material"?

Yes. So many packages gone missing... with very expensive stuff inside. I personally think that the staff at Empost and on the docks steal. Sorry, just my opinion

They may turn up yet - DH's sister sent us a package from Canada in November last year and it took 64 days to get here! edited by chizz on 19/01/2011

Unfortunately, there is no tracking number for either of them :( My sister sent it regular post, and as Cyclone says, Amazon doesn't track once its gone international.

I had Amazon send a package to my work PO Box as I had done 4 or 5 times before but the expected date went past and it never turned up. Fast forward 19 weeks and it turned up on my desk and the mailroom logs show it was delivered the day before. Amazon said that even with expedited international delivery once it gets to the UAE they do not track it and it is delivered by Empost so my guess is it was in a corner until it eventually got found. I am still waiting on them finding my Christmas present from Australia. Christmas 2009 that is :(
