Hi,

So I need to change my passport to my married name- which I am going to do when I go to the UK in a couple of months (I know you have to sent it away from here now so I figured taking it back to the UK would be easier, and just paying for the express service)

Just wondering what happens with my visa here as I am currently on my husbands visa but under my maiden name- will I need to get a new visa?? Or can I travel with the old one and my marrigae cert??

Any information that anyone has on this would be great
Thanks

once you get your new passport, take the old passport and the new passport into immigration with your marriage certificate, it will take about a week but they'll transfer the visa into the new passport. That hasn t happened to me I have to carry 2 passports when I travel - new and old really? they've transferred my visa to my new pp. Did you actually try to have this process done? It was quite straight forward, give the two passports into immigration (or PRO in my case) and a week later had my visa in my new passport.... u can get it transferred but they charge you for it and if you got your pro to do it then thats why you wouldnt know. Why I wouldn't know what?

mine are rubber banded/paper clipped together - really not a problem at all!

u can get it transferred but they charge you for it it can be up to 700 dhs, which is why so many people decide to carry 2 passports for a while...

Just like the other posters mentioned, staple both your passports together or present both at the immigration counter Thanks

I am currently travelling on 2 passports, one current passport and one with my visa. I guess the issue would be the name change. Will the OP not need to carry her marriage certificate as her passport will be in her married name and her visa will be in her maiden name?

Just carry both passports. Its not a problem. No need to travel with marriage certificate too. When going through customs give the passport with the visa. I stapled my two passports together to make it easier.

When my son needed a new passport we were told his current visa remains valid and to carry both old and new passports with us. It may be the same when changing name to. Your Embassy/Consulate will be able to confirm.
