a quick calculation confirmed my deepest darkest suspicions:

1 year of my son's nursery costs more than what i paid per year for college in NY.

sigh.

will be interesting to see how things play out with such an oversupply of seats - sheikhandbake the scenario you described is most likely correct, but i'm hoping that with all the competition comes improvement at least in service, quality, additional activities, extracurriculars etc. at schools across the board.

Its actually going to be a huge problem. The trouble is KHDA won't allow schools to raise fees by very much each year so schools are protecting themselves by starting off with very high fees. But less people can now afford those high fees so the new schools are struggling to attract good candidates and thus they can provide less resources to the kids and so on ...

Hi it seems quiet worrying knowing the fees for education here. Im looking for a day care or nursery where my 2 yr old can go for a couple of hours a day. Pay as u go so to say. Would u have any idea? I live in deira side near makhtoum bridge. Thanx

It is honestly ridiculous. All the "there are so many new schools opening" justifications dont work because all the new good schools are even more expensive than their previous branch : - Kings Barsha vs Kings Umm Suqeim - Safa Community vs Safa Private and if it's a good brand new school it's still high fees (e.g. Hartland)
