Morning all
I an planning a road trip to Muscat during Easter and wanted to stop at Hatta Fort and Hatta Rock pools to break up the journey. Is it possible to cross into Oman here or is the road closed for non residents?
Can anyone recommend an alternative route to Muscat with a worthy stopping point, maybe Al Ain?

The border at Hatta isn't closed. The E44 between Madam and Masfout (which passes through an Omani enclave) is closed to non-GCC nationals and you have to take a detour via the E55 and the Sharjah to Kalba road to reach Hatta.

The border was closed at Hatta last time we travelled that way but don't know current situation as that was over a month ago. You can travel through Al Ain but it is a much longer route.:)
