Hello everyone,
My husband lives in Dubai and we are in London, UK where my daughter is attending a lovely independent school. We are moving to Dubai soon after she finishes reception in July.
We have a place in the Palm (not really sure about Dubai geography but we are quite close to the Atlantis).
I am looking for good schools that's not too long a commute from us. I have written to Gems Wellington School but I don't think we have a chance.
Any recommendations please share?
Any general tips anout life in the area is highly appreciated too.
Thanks

Formarke school would probably be the closest equivalent to a small English prep school.

My sons go to GEMS Wellington International School off Sheik Zaeyd. It's amazing and offers far more than the school they went to last year. I enrolled them in a new school last year and well let's just say never again. Always go for the well established schools than schools that look pretty on the outside, charge 85,000 for Year 1 and still have teachers who have to buy resources for th class since the school chooses not too. Good luck on your search.

Thank you for the advise. I am not fussed about the price as long as the quality is good and that we actually do get in. We pay school fess here in the UK so there will not be much of a difference to us. My daughter needs to start in year 1 in September. My daughter is very quite and shy so I am looking for small class sizes and a school with the right ethos. I am sooooooo lost. At least I secured a job interview this morning, which is great.

Hi! I know schools can be overwhelming! Do you have a budget for fees? Excellent schools but on the high end in terms of fees near you would be Kings Barsha, Nord Anglia, Dubai British School. Difficult to get into due to popularity but close to you are Kings Umm Suqeim and GEMS Wellington International (which you already mentioned) are also excellent. What school year is your daughter going into? The younger classes (FS, Year 1) are harder to get into due to high demand.
