Used to live in RAK town and commute. Whilst I would not repeat the experience if tied to a certain timing and location in Dubai that requires driving on Emirates Road thru Sharjah, if you can choose your timing into Dubai or drive to JA on the By-Pass Road, it's plain sailing (read driving). I would say approx 1 hr 20-30 min (to DIP).
