Hello, Anyone know where to get a canon ixus repaired my DD has got sand in the lens and it is permanently out will not close. Now only showing as lens error when I try to start it :-( Is it fixable????????

Have exactly the same problem with the exact camera. It is current in for repair at Al Ghazal Mall and the cost is Dhs 175 which we thought was worth doing.

The canon service centre is in the Al Ghazal (sp?) Mall on the corner of Al Wasl and 2nd december st. They should be able to give you an estimate. alternatively the independent repair shop in Jumeirah 1.

Is it fixable???????? Of course it's fixable, the question is whether it makes more financial sense to fix it or just buy a new one. Make sure that before you accept a quote to repair it, you've compared the cost of buying a brand-new replacement. Parts and labour can be expensive and so sometimes the price difference is so small that it's daft to repair an older camera when you might as well get a new one complete with new warranty and (usually) more features.

Yes, it should be (we had one with sand in repaired last year). Need to ask DH where as he's the Canon fan. He and his camera are currently out taking pictures at the Rolling Stone party (thanks for the invite...), so will ask when he's back!
