Sick Maid - Awful treatment at Gov Med Cen

Some doctors should have their license taken away from them. Probably already has been revoked - in another country which could explain why he's here in Dubai.

Yep, there should be a Practice Manager of the Clinic. You should complain to them. That is disgusting from one human being to another, let alone a doctor to a patient. A dog would have got more empathy. He needs to be reminded of the Hippocratic Oath he swore to when he became licensed: [i'>I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. I'd go to the head of the clinic though and ask for your money back why should you pay for such bad treatment ......

My maid barely gets sick but did have a pretty bad experience herself - and I was there to witness it - in a government hospital. We are looking into getting a health insurance for her. Here according to labor law, all companies should provide a health insurance - if I am correct. But labor law does not apply to domestic help. But should somehing happen, then an insurance would be a good idea to have. That is what I was thinking about now doing, she has her health card, but I am going to look at private health insurance now. Not that money matters but it cost quite a bit to get S correctly diagnosed and if that happened a few times a year the cost of health insurance would be no more expensive (i think), anyway if you find any good med insurance maybe you could share on here. I definitely will - my Dh is on the case at the moment.

I just wanted to say how nice it is to read about a madam who gives a damn after everything we usually read. I know most people do but knowing that shazman, and other like her, genuinely care is lovely to see.

I have a court case against a govt hospital and a doctor on going. It was filed in 2005. Will it ever get to court? doubt it. Just tell the doctor in charge of the clinic, he needs to know.

@shazman I hope you didn't think I was implying anything wrong on your part...when I was saying "you," I was referring to doctors. I know you came on here for a well-needed rant! :) If you do decide to make a complaint, it wouldn't be against the clinic it would be against the actual doctor. I know it's tough to make these decisions, but what if this doctor sees a child in a similar situation who can't express what/why it hurts and the child is just brushed aside? I don't mean to guilt you into doing something you aren't comfortable with doing though.

I'd say name and shame him and the hospital if they decide to stand by him,...complain to the hospital ad health authority... glad she got the right treatment

That's really awful. I have to say, I use the government health care clinic and have always been treated well. It's no frills, but it certainly isn't shortcutting or maltreatment like it appears in this case. Do you have plans to make a complaint to DHMS or MOH? It's not right to treat certain people a certain way...ever heard of Hyppocratic Oath? I know some doctors must get annoyed/sick of patients feigning illnesses, but it still doesn't absolve you of YOUR duty to perform thorough checks regardless. :(

That's disgusting behaviour from someone who is supposed to be a healthCARE worker. You can only imagine how his staff get treated! Our helper went to a doctor for recurring migraines. He told her it is because she takes a shower before she sleeps??? Didn't ask her about water intake, diet, blood presure, periods, eyesights, or I don't know anything that actually made sense!

I am pretty mad at how my domestic helper has just been treated at the Government Medical Clinic. She (S) came into work yesterday looking pretty poorly, so I put her in a taxi (could not take myself as my DD is already home sick), off S goes to clinic, she came back and said the Dr. said it is just a muscle pull. I dont believe this, anyway off she goes back to bed, this morning she looks like death warmed up, so drop DD off at school and take S to Clinic, I go in with her, the Dr. was very aggressive he almost had me in tears (and I am a strong person), this is before he gave her physical examination, kept saying to S - What do you think is wrong, what you want me to do, why are you saying you have pain, I then ask him to stop asking her questions in that manner and giver her examination, so he does anyway, he says there is nothing wrong with her, just a bit of muscle pull, it is all in her head, she justs wants to go home, just send her she is no good. I then said If I was the one showing same symptoms would you treat me as aggressively, - he just looks at me and says nothing. Then he had the cheek to say to me - The problem is you treat her too well. At this point I said, are you going to give her a prescription for what I believe is an infection, he said NO INFECTION - SHE TAKE VALIUM. I can not believe how a professional person can treat anybody regardless of who they are or where they come from like this. I am so mad, just wanted to have a rant. Anyway, took her prime medical and yes she has an ear infection, S in now on antibiotics and the Valium prescription has been destroyed. no, no, no! give me the valium. (please) That was my first thought too! But a close second was indignation on the part of your maid. I can't imagine a doctor talking to my maids that way - I'd be livid.

That's terrible shazman. I'd be taking the diagnosis of the second doctor back to the first one and having firm words with him. Also be tempted to file a complaint. Glad you got it sorted and bless you for being such a wonderful person.
