Is this SMS a bit too personal from your bank?

DH gets a text from ENBD when his salary gets deposited. I saw it yesterday and it starts off with: "Good news!" I thought it was weird...I mean if something happens, like your account is frozen, do they send you a message like: "Oooh sucks to be you today. Your account has been frozen due to suspicious activity. Better luck next time bro!"???

I'm just saying...I like my bank people to be personal, but formal, it's not the McDonald's drive-thru!

DH got a message from Air Arabia today asking him to pick up MIL's approved visa anytime between 8:30 AM to 7 PM; except that they put a ":" after 7 by mistake, so it reads as 7 :P M LOL, it just cracked me up and I had to add it to this thread :D edited by stovetop on 06/02/2011

You have to be kidding..Dear. edited by Lady Bubbles on 05/02/2011 Hehehe - DH was very surprised at being addressed as "Dear" by the DEWA man - had to restrain him from replying "Hey honey, here's my details"....

I think it's hilarious and wouldn't be upset in the least. Any money going into my account is 'good news' and it's handy to get a text and know that it's actually gone in without having to check.

I used to get those good news texts as well before I left work, I thought it was hilarious that they started sending them around the same time as the stories were abound of people not getting paid by companies so they obviously viewed it as good news that I was still getting paid!

I think it's good news too...but really, when it's not good news, what do they say? Do they throw in a ":(" too? LOL @stovetop You are my hero for pushing back at them. I mean, I think it's OK to be creative and fun/quirky...but it's also important to be able to take my bank seriously. You are a financial institution handling billions...please don't speak to me like you are merely asking me if I want to up-size my drink!

Lol! :D I was recently doing an ad for one of the banks offering an offer with Shop & Ship, and the account servicing lady was INSISTING I use the same copy as the reference ad, which was from Shop & Sip. It went like this "Here's the deal... so you wanna know what the catch is? None!" It took me 2 hours and a hormotional outbreak to tell her its just not right for a bank to talk like that. :o

Are you sure its not a hoax? I think this kind of humor from a bank is very ill fitting. Actually cringed reading that!
